Granby, Colorado

Granby is situated along U.S. Highway 40 about 85 miles northwest of Denver and 14 miles southwest of Rocky Mountain National Park.

The town was founded in 1904 along the route of the Denver, Northwestern & Pacific Railway and was incorporated one year later. It was named after Granby Hillyer, a Denver lawyer who later served as the United States Attorney for that city's district.

Amtrak, the national passenger rail system, provides daily service to Granby, operating its California Zephyr daily in both directions between Chicago and Emeryville, California, across the bay from San Francisco.

Nestled in the majestic Rocky Mountain Valley at an elevation of 7,935 ft, surrounded by Rocky Mountain National Park with breathtaking views of the Continental Divide, Granby, Colorado is in the heart of something truly grand.

With Granby nearly encompassed by the Arapaho National Forest, home to two rivers and a lake, and Rocky Mountain National Park nearby, there are plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation. Come winter, the area transforms into a snow-covered wonderland with sledding, snowboarding, skiing, and snowshoeing.
